House progress

A couple of views of our house. We'll put up the trusses at the first of next year. We're just about ready now, but Mary and I are going to Texas for Christmas.

A frosty morning

It was foggy and frosty Saturday morning. The fog hung around until about 10 and the hoarfrost covered everything until afternoon. The frost was so heavy that when it fell off the trees it looks like a fresh snow had fallen.

The First Wall of the Garage

Well, it was bitter cold today with a nasty wind blowing, but Bill, Sam, and I stuck it out long enough to get the first wall of the garage standing. We started the day with the men putting up the wet wall in the basement. (I was secretly hoping that during this time the sun would come out and warm things up a little bit, but with the continual wind it was hard to tell if it was any warmer or not.) Before we went in for lunch I did a lot more sweeping (I seem to do a lot of that, stinkin' wind!) and we got the garage wall ready to stand. Because it was a garage wall we had to have helpers to stand it, so after lunch John, Robert, and Adam came down to help us get it up. We couldn't have done it without them, and they made it look so easy, major thanks to them. I would have taken a few pictures, or maybe movie clip, but I had to help too, so that didn't happen. It was a good day, but I was happy to come home around 2:30 and take a break from the wind and cold.

Alice was too close when we used the red chalk line, she's now a Red Heeler.

Interior framing

We finished framing the interior walls Thursday. That's Bill putting on the top plate. I had to merge three photos into one to get everything. It gives you an idea of the layout. I'm standing in the kitchen taking the picture. Bill is in the mud/laundry room. There's a bathroom to his left. He is facing the master bathroom and two bedrooms are on the far wall.

December Relief Society meeting

These are the things I learned at the relief society meeting on Tuesday. First up we learned how to make soap. Then we learned how to make some awesome pillow cases that only have 3 seams and they are all encased. The last picture is my attempt at a close up of the inside seam.

House progress

Well, these are the things that have been happening lately.

These two pictures are what we left things looking like on Wednesday when we left.
These pictures (one above and two below) were taken on Tuesday, so it was Monday and Tuesday's progress.

Sam is getting ready to put in the breaker box so we can get temporary power in our box

This is Sam and Bill putting up some walls.

Yep, that's right, this is me building a wall. I'm so cool!
