Snow in May

I hope this isn't something I have to get used to... snow...in May?! That's just a little bit crazy for a girl from Texas. (Not that I'm from Texas, but it's the longest my family has lived anywhere since I was 11.)

This is the reaction from The Girl to her first snow ball and a video of it follows...

Total Eclipse of the Heart

We had an eclipse party yesterday. No it didn't have anything to do with Stephanie Meyers third novel.
We went out on our front porch yesterday to view the near total eclipse. We wore a welding helmet to look at the sun. That way we didn't look like weirdos .... too much. Only a few people drove past.

Our little girl wasn't quite sure why we were looking at the inside of a helmet, but she feigned interest to make us happy.

She was much more interested in trying to leave the porch so she could try out her new hobby of rock collecting. She seems more interested in tasting every rock, so that keeps us on our feet.

This is the view of the eclipse through the welding helmet. As you can see is came close to a full eclipse. It was a little surreal as we walked around outside. It got a little darker as the eclipse progressed, so it was felt like we were wearing sunglasses. We also tried putting a small hole in a piece of paper and focusing it on the side of the house to see the eclipse.

What's up

Today was a fun day for The Girl. She got to ride a horse for the first time (oh I KNEW I should have taken the camera!). She cried when I took her down from the horse. This girl is going to be all about the animals I think. She also decided the stairs were fun things to play on. She's known how to go up and down stairs for a while, but she wasn't that interested in them, but tonight she went down and up, just because she could. She walked with her walker without me holding onto it - she is getting so close to walking. She also decided it was really fun to make faces in the tub overflow. Goodness, she is wonderful!

She must have learned how to be wonderful from her dad. Sam came home from a long day and heated up dinner for his girls. Then, because there was sweet potato all over the floor he cleaned the floor while I gave The Girl a bath. I guess I let her stay in the bath a little too long, because then the tub needed to be cleaned... ew. SuperSam to the rescue again! He let me get The Girl ready for bed while he cleaned the tub. Then he did all the dishes while I finished playing a game with The Girl.

How did I get so lucky?!

Sunday

Baby Girl learned to do some new things today...

She still needs someone to hold onto her bike, but with a little help she can handle it.

The romper she is wearing I made from an old dress shirt that I got in a bag of give away clothes.

This girl sure likes her Daddy!

The Girl has figured out that the sun rises and sets with her Daddy.

At least they make a very cute pair!
