Political Rally

Sam wanted to go to a political rally last Monday. So he could go alone or we could risk it with all the kids. It seemed like it wouldn't be so bad, so we hauled everyone in to Elko for the festivities.

We were very surprised when they announced that Glen Beck would be one of the speakers. Sam looked like a kid in a candy shop the whole time he was speaking.
That is Glen Beck. He gave a very cool speech about George Washington and the kind of man he was.

I didn't think things through well when Sam told me how long the rally was supposed to be. But we survived, even after the hour drive to get to Elko and the hour and a half of sitting in the convention center waiting, and then the two or so hours of the actual speeches. The speeches ended approximately 15 minutes after our "normal" bedtime. So we left as quickly as possible and went and got some dinner pumped into all of us before we stared the hour drive home.

Two different ladies stopped us when we got out of the building and complimented us on how well behaved our children were and told us their grandchildren wouldn't have been able to sit through that. Having experiences like that makes me smile. It's nice to hear from people that your children are good, instead of the normal complaints that I'm raising a bully and someone who doesn't stop talking.

Snow

This year has been quite different from previous years. We had large amounts of white stuff all over the place.

It's hard to believe that these pictures were taken last week, and aside from the very biggest piles (like around the mailbox) 99% of the snow has already melted.

Bring on the Spring!

Valentine's Day

We are finally getting children old enough to get excited about all the little holidays. This year The Girl could not contain her excitement or her desire to make valentines for everyone.
These are some valentines that the kids helped me make.
The kids enjoyed making valentine boxes, thanks to Grandma, while I was helping do some cow work.

After church we got to come home and check out all the cool valentines we got!

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Boy Blue Update

So it seems we should dedicate a whole post just to updates on our little one who is changing the most these days.
We have yet to find something that makes this boy make funny faces. Here were his first tastes of smoothie. Just yesterday he sucked on a lemon and seemed to enjoy it! Crazy baby.

We found The Boy's cabbage patch hair from Halloween...
This is what happens when you are totally exhausted and Daddy just sits and holds you.
For the first nap in a crib, this is totally the position I would choose also.
Mom and Dad's bed is the most comfortable thing around!
...and often the most crowded!

Circus

On February 3 we got to surprise the kids with a trip to the circus.
We were happy to see the show start with 7 tigers!

The motorcycle cage was really fun and LoUd!!
Three rings of crazy fabulous fun. (Those of us taller then 4 feet decided we don't like the three rings, it was too much to look at!)
About half way through short people were asking to leave. This was probably due to the fact that we rushed around all morning, jumped in the car and drove for 4 hours straight, then got out, walked past some protesters protesting mistreatment of elephants, and sat for another hour and a half in the circus. So while other small children were getting $15 elephant rides, our guys got to climb to the very top of the bleachers and run around....we make our own fun!
After moving around things felt better to the small ones. Seeing ponies weave their way around camel feet helped too!

The acrobats were amazing!! There was one who can't be more then 10 years old, it was fun, and the kids haven't stopped crawling all over Sam since.

The two elephants were pretty awesome. I didn't get a picture, but these guys can do headstands!

We had a fun family outing to the circus, but we were all a little happy when it was over and we could finish our journey to Aunt Cassie's house.
