Our week

This last week we haven't been up to much besides calving. On Saturday we had 17 calves...tagging this week is going to be almost full-time work! Sam had a birthday yesterday, I didn't have my camera, but he still has some presents coming so we'll get pictures then.

In other news...

Last night we had an impromptu lesson about gravity and not jumping at a parent until said parent is ready to catch. We also learned that when a parent isn't ready to catch, the edge of the trampoline is always ready and willing. The Girl caught her eye on the tramp and she looks like a fighting Irish for this St. Patrick's Day.

That awkward moment when you can't leave the table until your lunch is gone, but you can't stay awake any longer.
The Boy loves to wrestle with his bear...

Yes, we know he needs another haircut...but he sure is a cutie!

The Boy discovered his great talent at doing downward facing dog...he's just awesome like that, just ask him!

Manly recipes

Here's a delicious recipe that is a favorite of mine. I like Hershey's Special Dark chocolate and their milk chocolate with almonds, but somehow the people at Hershey's haven't put these two favorites together in one package. So I have to take matters into my own hands.

First find a package of Special Dark kisses and almond kisses. This will be the hardest part. You may have the best luck during the holiday season. I was lucky enough to find a couple of packages after Christmas and after Valentine's Day.
Unwrap one Dark Kiss and one Almond Kiss.
Press the flat ends of the Kisses together with your bare hands. Manly plaid lumberjack shirt is optional.
If you've done it right, the two kisses should be melded together. Now all that's left is to write a letter to Hershey's suggesting they save me the work next year and come out with a Special Dark Milk Chocolate Almond Kiss next year. Throw in some toffee bits if you want to be super awesome.

A blustery day

This is another way to measure wind chill.

Measure how far out from vertical your icicles are growing.
It's actually been unseasonably warm lately, but the wind still blows once in a while. my wind gauge registered an 80 mph gust a week or so ago. 40-50 mph winds are pretty common out here.

What makes life fun

So this last week we've been sick. Bummer! However sick and tired we are, we can still manage to get some pretty awesome pictures of our kids. Here is a sampling...
Sam saw this and said, "Well, she doesn't take after her mom!" This Girl loves to have things piled on top of her!
The Girl covered every flat surface in the living room with books while I was resting.
Yes, I didn't help him out until after I got the picture...it was just too funny.
After insisting and whining that she didn't need a nap, The Girl fell asleep on her dad's legs. Looks comfy!
